January 2021

The Christmas decorations have been put away and I can start a brand new year. Hopefully. this year will bring us some shows !

Last year brought me some challenges (as for everyone else) and it has been a learning curve.

I can now offer online classes, both in embroidery and appliqué, and even online trunk show ! I will plan few dates along the year for online classes, keep an eye on the website.

My garden has kept me busy, the zucchinis are filling the fridge and tomatoes are getting rounder. My chicken have a new coop, and the bees are busy. My best news for this year is my hubby starting is desensitisation treatment for bee sting…. it will be good to be 2 again to look after the girls. The garden is slowly changing looks, trying to make less work for me hence more time to create. When we first moved in 15 years ago I was happy to have a wild garden with bits here and there…. I will keep the bits in one spot now ! With the kids growing up and being less at home it’s hard to have free labor for the garden.

Last year with all that time on my hand I managed to make and finish few quilts, start few UFO’s (oops) and plan new ones. In the January issue of Quilter’s Companion you will find one of my project created in the middle of lockdown, which brought few challenges, you will find out more about it in the magazine. The magazine Today’s Quilter, in the UK, has ask for one of my creation, a new design, very exciting !

The picture below shows my latest pattern call “Jardin de Poche” ( pocket garden), made out of 1930’s and Liberty lawn fabrics and dotted with embroidery. It has been released and is available from my website only (for the present). It is a booklet with the acrylic template for the leaf. And there is room for you to write down some notes (like your choice of colour or a different stitch) as you are making it. It is a small and sweet project, one you can take anywhere with you to do.

There will be more surprises coming, I just need an extra pair of hands to write the patterns and make the kits !

I hope this year will bring us together again, I have missed meeting quilters in classes and see all the new projects, and the finished ones.

Until next time ,

Stay sane and keep sewing.
