Mainly machine piecing and ideal for using all those little bits of fabrics left from previous projects.

Louis is a wonderful project for using small amounts of fabrics. You could use that very special fabric or all the one you really really like … and all in one quilt. And the subjects at the centre of this quilt are unusual.

The blocks are simple enough to tempt a beginner. The centre appliqué is a wonderful way of trying your hand at simple appliqué as the pieces are big.

The deers in the centre are adapted from a 13century painting as well as the tree.

It  has some reverse appliqué, the clamshells will help you improve your EPP technique or any other technique you wish to use.

The peek-a-boo border adds an interesting effect to the whole project.

Because Louis pattern uses small amounts of fabrics it is a smallish project for the weekend or as a stash buster. It would look great in any style of fabrics, from reproduction to more modern prints.
