On the bright side

On the bright side of things it seems that my weeks have 14 days !

It would be very easy to dwell on what we cannot do but I have decided to enjoy the time out to pack as much as I can. Next year, fingers cross, my teachings will resume and the weeks will feel like 5 days again …

On the bright side I can now do a lot of gardening, create new patterns (be ready for those) , finish some UFO’s, even tidying the sewing room.

I do miss sharing my passion with you all through classes or friendship groups but I know it’s only just for a short time. Imagine what we all be showing and telling when we get back together. We might have to have overnight sessions.

“Pêle-Mêle, au revoir”pattern is now ready for you,

” Toujours Provence” pattern will be ready by the end of August

And on the bright side I am about half way on the next reproduction quilt. And it’s going to be one of my favorite. Cannot wait to show it to you.

I am also working on a  BOM in modern fabrics. It will be online only.

And it is about the garden and the weeds, and more.

I have something exciting coming up for the end of the year work related….It’s a bit of a surprise

Well on the bright side of today I have the whole day to play with fabrics and my fingers are hitching to do a bit of sewing. Better listen to it.

Stay safe and mostly sane and keep sewing…

Post scriptum

I bought last year a calendar called “My perfect imperfect life”, and so far all the little sayings each months are quite spot on. July is ” The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain” ( Henry Wadsworth Longfellow).

Autumn 2020 had started so well

2020 had started so well for me. We had a lovely family holiday in Singapore, my son had started university and going back into good habit ( bed before 10.30pm and less computer games). My daughter passed her certificate for rope climbing and I had workshops ( here and overseas) planned as well as few shows and then the virus.

So now I have everybody home, son goes to uni (online) in pyjamas and daughter is climbing up the walls because she cannot climb anything else !

BUT looking on the bright side instead of choosing between gardening or updating my website or sewing I can do EVERYTHING. Keep an eye on the website as I am realising some patterns as download version.

I have also have join a UFO group from Red Thread Studio in the States and the big blue quilt, started 10 years ago, might get finished. I made it before designing and writing patterns and it has been tormenting me since, as well as my daughter ( it will be hers)

My blocks for the Dutch Sew along Dutch project are done. It was an interesting experience as I am more of an appliqué person than a machine pieced one, loved some of the blocks and some not so much.

“Pêle-Mêle , the final” is nearly completed (yes!), pictures will be posted on Instagram, quite few surprises on that last one.

Patience is the keyword, we all have few projects to complete and soon the day will come when will be able to resume our day to day lives and complain about the lack of time.

In the meantime stay home and safe

Cheers

Workshop at Gippsbeary Cottage

Will be rescheduled

Join me for a day of creativity and fun in a workshop at Gippsbeary Cottage, a gorgeous shop nestled in the Gippsland region and meet Cindy the lovely owner.

Do you want to try some appliqué, and even some reverse appliqué. Would you like to practice your embroidery? Likewise what about English Paper Piecing; then the Pêle-Mêle pattern is an ideal project for you to get a taste of different techniques. You probably have some treasured dollies or lace waiting to be used. What about the big print fabrics waiting in a drawer ? If you had started the quilt but ran out of inspiration this workshop will definitely put you back on the right track.

Places are limited!
